What training format works best?
The best training formats are the ones that build in follow-up and commitment. A multi-year program that trains school or institute personnel to become in-house trainers has proven the most effective long-term. Discipline Associates can build a format to meet your needs and available resources.
Who will benefit from attending our training seminars? Are the programs applicable to all grade levels?
YES! The following greatly benefit: Pre K-12 educators, principals, counselors, administrators, school personnel, university professors, residential treatment staff, parents, and others working with youth. Our programs can be applied to regular and inclusive classrooms to meet the needs of all children, including at-risk, ADHD, chronically disruptive, hopeless, hard to motivate, or aggressive, hostile, violent students. Although there is no "magic cure", there are solutions
that work!
How much does a training seminar cost?
All seminars and training programs are individually tailored for the needs and resources of the sponsoring group. Costs are based on these and other factors such as travel time, number of consultants required, whether or not formal evaluation is requested, and what other resource materials are purchased. Generally our honorarium fees range from $1,500 – $5,000 depending on such factors as the presenter’s availability, the number of training days booked, the number of participants and the time of year scheduled. We will work with you to ensure a cost- effective program that fits your staff’s training needs, goals, and budget. We understand how tight many professional development budgets are so we work very hard to find ways of accommodating all schools with reasonable requests.
What is the price difference in a half-day vs. a full day training session?
Because of travel time, we generally consider a half-day fee similar to a full day fee. However, we are flexible with honorarium fees upon special circumstances.
Do you offer special program packages?
YES! We package training, books, leadership manuals, video and audio tapes in various quantities with special discounts, based on volume.
Can more than one presenter conduct an on-site training?
Generally, one presenter is requested and contracted to conduct training. But unusually large group size or a special focus based upon your goals can lead to the provision of more than one presenter.
Besides Curwin and Mendler, do you have other trainers who conduct seminars?
YES! We have a staff of professionally trained associates with diverse educational backgrounds available for consultation. We do our best to match your requests with the associate’s experience and location. All of our associates are practicing educators who are using Discipline with Dignity in their classrooms, schools and organizations.
How many participants can attend a training session?
For introductory programs, we generally prefer an audience size of 200 or less people. More intense training is best done in smaller groups. However, the groups vary in sizes ranging from 5 to 10,000 participants depending on specific requests. As the audience size increases, the honorarium fee increases on a sliding scale based on the number of participants.
Can I attend a session in my area?
We work in conjunction with other organizations to offer our training programs. Many sessions are open for registration. To find out if we are scheduled in your area, call us at 1-800-772-5227 or connect directly to our seminar schedule.
RESOURCE PRODUCTS
How do I know which resource product is best for me?
Each book, video series and audiotape series is described in detail in our product list. Should you have additional questions, please call 1-800-772-5227 for more detailed information
How can we use the video and/or audio tapes?
Both the video and audio series provide an overview of the program’s philosophy, goals and strategies and can be used for group or individual training as either stand alone or in conjunction with on-site training. They are especially helpful as preparation prior to a consultant’s visit, to reinforce the program’s concepts, or to bring new staff members up to speed.
How can I place an order?
Payments are required before shipping any orders. We accept credit cards, checks, and money orders. Also, we do accept purchase orders. To be billed for an order, we require an actual copy of the purchase order from a school or organization. It must be faxed or mailed to us prior to shipping the products.
How long will it take to receive my order?
We process orders as quickly as possible. Within two weeks of receipt of the order, the product(s) will be shipped to you via U.S. postal service or UPS. Special shipping services such as "overnight" or 2nd day delivery services can be requested. The additional shipping costs will be charged to the customer.
